SBEM (Simplified Building Energy Model) calculates the energy efficiency of non-domestic buildings and in turn demonstrates compliance with Part L of The Building Regulations. An SBEM assessment is required for all new non-domestic buildings (over 50 metres squared) and in some cases extensions and conversions. If you are unsure if your project requires SBEM please contact us.
What Is SBEM?
What Information Is Required?
Floor plans, elevations, sections along with the construction and services specification. Using the plans and specification we model the dwelling(s) within the software.
When Should the SBEM Assessment Be Completed?
It is essential for “design stage” calculations to be completed prior to any works starting on site. This way we can ensure compliance from the outset, making changes (if required) as the project progresses. Having the calculations completed once works have started or upon project completion could prove costly with retrospective works being required.
What if The Proposed Specification Fails?
Well, first of all, don’t panic. We will provide you with the most cost effective solution to overcome this and achieve compliance.
